Orthodontic Treatment Souderton
We’re Celebrating the Beautiful Smiles of Our Ortho Patients!
Together we’ve come a long way, and now’s the time to show off your smile to family and friends!
Orthodontics focuses on the alignment of the teeth and jaws to improve a patient’s smile and oral health. With a good bite it makes it easier to bite, chew, speak and even breathe. If teeth are crowded, spaced too far apart or meet in an abnormal way correction may be necessary.
Braces are the “appliances” most commonly use to guide teeth into their proper positions. Retainers preserve and stabilize the results of orthodontic treatment. Orthodontics is not only for children and teens, many adults who wish to have a beautiful smile schedule a consultation and set up a treatment plan.
When do young patients have their initial consultation?
Girls are usually ages 7 to 9 years old, and boys are ages 8 to 10 years old. The initial consultation is no charge and can often be done during a routine cleaning appointment. Once it has been determined that treatment is necessary we will schedule an appointment to gather measurements and pictures then discuss with a dentist the best treatment plan.
“For children, we like to see the upper and lower 6 year molars and upper and lower 4 front teeth,” says Jeff Cassel, orthodontic technician. Occasionally the dentist may recommend treating a younger child with an appliance to aid in development and tooth position. We can also help patients with concerns like thumb sucking and mouth breathing.
How long is treatment?
Early intervention treatment plans range from 6 to 15 months, and regular braces range from 18 to 24 months. We see our patients every six weeks for adjustments.
Do You Treat Adult Patients?
We have patients of all ages, and it is never too late to correct teeth alignment. Some adult patients decide to have traditional braces or get Invisalign®, which is a clear invisible tray that can be used for mild cases to create a beautiful smile.
Keeping a Beautiful Smile
Retainers for teeth are mostly used as the last phase of orthodontics treatment. After the braces have been removed, teeth can shift back to their original position. So, retainers worn overnight (if not longer) can help maintain the position of straightened teeth.
What Makes Us Smile
For us, it is very rewarding to see children go through corrective treatment—to see them grow and help their smiles and oral development achieve the best results. For all of our patients, over the months in treatment we develop an encouraging relationship and share in their joy when their braces come off and they see their new smile!
How Much Does it Cost?
The cost is spread over the length of treatment time, interest free, and is unique to each patient’s treatment plan. We work with patients to make monthly payments affordable.
