First Few Days of the WRR Nicaraguan Dental Mission

So far, the WRR team’s Nicaraguan Dental Mission has been both productive and challenging. During the first few days, the team treated close to 200 children in the Capital City of Managua, before moving southwest to the Masachapa region. Other stops during their Mission include a health fair in Villa El Carmen, a Rotary International visit in a local clinic, and will conclude with the mountain village they visited last year. WRR Sends Dental Team to Nicaragua

Dr. Todd Weaver, Dr. John Reckner and five other volunteers from Weaver, Reckner & Reinhart Dental Associates have returned to Nicaragua to spend an entire week treating patients with the Hearts, Hands & Smiles Foundation. This is the second year in a row the WRR team has joined the Foundation, founded by Robert Ayers, in Nicaragua. The team is returning to Villa El Carmen, as well as treating in new communities including Club Esperanza, a ministry center providing for the needs of children in Nicaragua.

Due to the generous donations of many, the team will be able to provide necessary dental care to hundreds of patients. Follow the Nicaragua Dental Mission on our facebook page and on social media #wrrSmiling #wrrDentalMission.

WRR Team Prepares Thanksgiving Baskets for Keystone Opportunity Center

For over 12 years, the staff of Weaver, Reckner Reinhart Dental Associates has come together to create beautiful Thanksgiving baskets for families in our community. This year, trimmings for a Thanksgiving dinner were donated, along with essential items to fill a pantry in each of the 21 Thanksgiving baskets. Members of the staff then delivered them to Keystone Opportunity Center. The Center serves over 200 families every month, and welcomes donations and volunteers throughout the year. This year, the doctors donated a $25 gift card for each basket to Giant Foods.

Doctors Attend the Pennsylvania Academy of Dentistry Conference

Dr. Todd Weaver, Dr. John Reckner, Dr. George Reinhart, Dr. Tracy Reinhart, Dr. David Guengerich and Dr. Chris Zeledon traveled to Penn State recently for the annual fall meeting of the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry. The lectures this year concentrated on Pediatric Dentistry and communication with young children in the dental setting, as well as updates on Opioid and narcotic uses in pain control. These topics are vital to treating patients in a general dental practice. We are grateful for the dedication of our dentists to continuing education and promotion of a learning environment in the practice.

April was Oral Cancer Awareness Month

“An oral cancer screening is a quick and painless part of your ordinary dental examination,” says Dr. John Reckner, F.A.G.D. “Although we perform cancer screenings all year long, in April we support OralCancerCause.org, a national foundation that helps patients and their families undergoing treatment for oral cancer.” In April our team wore purple ribbons, and educated our patients about the importance of early detection. Learn more about the benefits and how easy it is to have an oral cancer screening.

Bubble Gum Challenge!

This year we participated in the Bubble Gum Challenge! Many oral cancer patients are not able to chew gum … or blow a bubble. We blew bubbles for those who cannot.

We made a donation to Oral Cancer Cause’ Bubble Gum Challenge and encourage our community to support their mission. All donations to this nonprofit are tax deductible and go to helping patients and their families during treatment and to educating the public about the importance of oral cancer exams.

Our First Dental Mission to Nicaragua, February 2017

“Weaver, Reckner and Reinhart Dental Associates has always reached out in our local communities to take care of the dental needs of individuals and families who need dental care and access to dental care. In February we will expand our services to another community in need, a community beyond our borders and a community that receives very little dental care,” says Dr. Todd Weaver. “We will spend an entire week treating patients in Nicaragua with the Hearts, Hands & Smiles Foundation, an organization founded by Robert Ayers of Telford Pennsylvania. We hope to give support to a number of local dentists while in Nicaragua and with our own supplies and equipment treat as many patients as we are able. We will travel with a team of nine volunteers and will look to the possibility of many future trips of service to the Nicaraguan people.”

Dr. Todd Weaver and Dr.John Reckner will be leading the trip to Nicaragua with volunteers from our dental team. Follow our Nicaragua Dental Mission on our facebook page and on social media #wrrSmiling #wrrDentalMission.

To raise the necessary funds we partnered with the Gran Pacifica Beach and Golf Resort in Nicaragua which generously donated two vouchers as a way to help us raise money and to give back to their surrounding communities. Each voucher is good for a complimentary 1-week stay in a beachfront condo at Gran Pacifica, and includes 2 rounds of golf and unlimited horseback riding on the beach. On January 20th we choose two winners during our live video stream on facebook. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our dental mission! 2016 Overview

2016 has been a big year for our practice as we finished construction and opened our new state-of-the-art dental office on Main Street in Harleysville on April 4. In July we had fun with our patients during our Patient Appreciation Day at Rita’s Water Ice, and in August we celebrated with over 400 patients and their families at Souderton Community Park, enjoying the Give and Take Jugglers, and watching Big Hero 6 together! We provided free dental care to those in need in our community at our Smile Day in February, and delivered Thanksgiving baskets to the Keystone Opportunity Center. We are thankful to be part of the Indian Valley community.

A Fun Time for All at Our Patient Appreciation Movie Night!

We had a fantastic evening with our patients and their families enjoying the Give and Take Jugglers and the family film Inside Out, along with water ice and snacks under the stars at the Harleysville Community Center. Thank you to our team who scooped out the water ice, and created a fun evening for everyone. We especially want to thank Marie Gulden, our Community Event and Project Coordinator. Our patients and team generously contributed approximately 320 lbs. of food donations to the Keystone Opportunity Center. Above, Marie Gulden, C.D.A., E.F.D.A., Dr. George Reinhart, and Dr. Todd Weaver with our lucky raffle winner representing the Veltre Family.
